NEW YORK, New York — September 4, 2024 — April Simpkins, a renowned mental health advocate, is excited to announce her partnership with the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. This collaboration aims to raise awareness and increase engagement with the 988 Lifeline, a vital resource providing immediate support to those in crisis.

Through this partnership, April will work to boost public awareness of the 988 Lifeline, reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, and promote available resources. A 2023 Pew study showed less than 14% of the general population was aware of the 988 Lifeline. April’s efforts will focus on increasing that number to a larger portion of the US population and she will collaborate with 988 Lifeline on creating compelling content to disseminate information about mental health resources and the role of the 988 Lifeline. Her efforts will include using her social media platforms, podcasts, and national stages to encourage individuals to seek help through the 988 Lifeline during times of emotional distress. A great example of this partnership includes April’s participation in the upcoming 988 Day, a national initiative taking place on September 8, 2024, focused on sharing the theme “No Judgment. Just Help.”

“I am beyond honored to partner with the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline to advance the critical mission of supporting those in crisis. This partnership perfectly aligns with my passion for breaking the stigma around mental health and ensuring that everyone knows they have a lifeline in their darkest moments,” said April Simpkins.

“Thank you, April, for joining us in our 988 Day initiative and standing alongside us in advocating for mental health and suicide prevention. Your support amplifies our mission to provide compassionate, accessible crisis care for all who need it. Together, we can ensure that no one feels alone in their time of need,” said Dr. Tia Dole, Chief 988 Lifeline Officer of Vibrant Emotional Health.
