Minds Ahead Laces Up for Wellness
Minds Ahead, MHA-NYC’s young leaders council, are lacing up their running shoes in the name of mental health and wellness.
To raise awareness of mental health and support the work of the Mental Health Association of New York City, the Minds Ahead team committed to running the Rock N’ Roll Half Marathon and five-mile race in Brooklyn on October 14, 2017. That day, Minds Ahead will be joined on their run by MHA-NYC Board Chair, Jennifer Ashley, as well as MHA-NYC staff member Jerome McGriff. Jerome is a Peer Support Supervisor for NYC Well, New York City’s connection to free, confidential mental health support administered by MHA-NYC and funded by the City of New York. During the race, the Minds Ahead runners will wear t-shirts that announce their support for mental health, and are branded with both the Minds Ahead and MHA-NYC logos.
Minds Ahead has raised over $5,000 in support of their race and MHA-NYC through their fundraising page. They also held a successful fundraiser at The VNYL on August 3, 2017, encouraging guests and Minds Ahead members to sign up for and contribute to the team of runners and the life-changing work of our programs.
This race is only the latest endeavor of Minds Ahead in support of mental health. Minds Ahead is dedicated to raising awareness of the Mental Health Association of New York City (MHA-NYC) among young professionals who understand that mental health and wellness affects everybody. They leverage their robust personal and professional networks to build diversified relationships that can further the development and expansion of MHA-NYC.
