The BRAVE (Building Respect, Acceptance, and Voice through Education) campaign was created by the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) in collaboration with Vibrant, in order to help children in New York City achieve emotional well-being and find support.
The BRAVEline is New York City’s free hotline and chat service that connects children with mental health professionals. These professionals listen to their problems, help them find ways to cope, and share the resources they need. Launched in October 2011, The BRAVE (Building Respect, Acceptance, and Voice through Education) campaign was created by the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) in collaboration with Vibrant Emotional Health, the New York City Council, and community groups.
Since the UFT launched the program in the fall of 2011, BRAVE has given students, staff, and families the tools, knowledge, and support they need to be proactive in confronting bullying. The UFT’s BRAVE campaign aims to combat bullying in our schools. Short for Building Respect, Acceptance, and Voice through Education, the BRAVE campaign provides educators, parents, and students with the tools, knowledge, and support to be proactive in confronting and stopping bullying. The BRAVE campaign provides an array of resources and tools for educators to make a positive difference in their schools.
If you or someone you know is experiencing bullying in a New York City public school, please contact the BRAVEline.
